Albert Einstein: “Creativity is contagious, pass it on”

Plein Air Painting at the Colony Square "Kentucky Derby Party," May 2021

2021 Elizabeth is looking forward to sunrises, sunsets and back to the National Parks to plein air paint this year! Ladies and gentlemen keep writing poetry and above all "carpe diem!"

2020 While COVID-19 put a STOP to visiting the US National Parks, the Badlands of South Dakota and Arcadia in Maine did not happen. Elizabeth did continue to plein air paint in the city of Sandy Springs, Georgia and surrounding Metro Atlanta areas!  She also worked with costumed models en plein air, as well as, painting the magnificent summer garden flowers!  Elizabeth  is ON FIRE working on horses and animals too!!!  For anyone that loves to create, keep going and make use of every minute of everyday!!!

2019 June Plein Air Expedition took Elizabeth on a Western adventure to southern Utah and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona!  Paintings captured, bask in colors of pink, orange, cream that projected skyward towards the heavens in Zion National Park. Bryce Canon was filled with sherbet orange "hoodoos" of time that continues to speak in millennia!  With the magic of "rain" in this area that fed the ground cover to intensify the soft blue greens of high mountain sagebrush, deep phthalocyanine greens of Ponderosa pines, Fur, Juniper, Pinyon and Spruce tress juxtaposed with chartreuse greens of countless Aspen forest at the North Rim, it was living and painting as humanity was made to live!  And of course, the spectacular Vermilion Cliffs that danced throughout the Navajo Reservation were breathtaking!

2019 Winter Plein Air Expedition was to Big Bend National Park in February!  The splendid cactus flowers are in bloom this spring!!!!   Elizabeth says that painting throughout this magical pristine park is an experience that alters the thinking of all that touch this desert!

2018 Was a monumental year for Elizabeth with Plein Air Painting!  While working on a National Park and Horse series that began several years ago,  she returned from a Master Class painting across the west! With an expedition that began the end of May through June and into July, her journeys covered Memphis Tennessee, Amarillo Texas, Las Vegas and Cloudcroft, New Mexico, Sedona and Grand Canyon National Park Arizona, Dead Horse State Park, Moab Utah, Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons National Park in Wyoming!  To say the least,Elizabeth is hooked on plein air painting!

Elizabeth studied drawing and painting, at Armstrong State College, with several great art organizations and artists over a lifetime.  While taught through a private mentoring program, in 2018, she completed a ten year Master Level Drawing/Painting Program which meets yearly in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. With an emphasis on horses, plein air landscape and portrait/figure her art training advocates the "art of drawing!" She continues to refine her ability to draw which includes both Eastern and Western art technique and philosophy.  Very well trained US artists can compete on the global stage but we must put in the drawing effort developing the skills necessary to be the best artists possible! Elizabeth enjoys visiting the great museums, galleries and artists from Scottsdale, Sedona, Durango, Taos, Santa Fe, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Oklahoma City, Bentonville, Atlanta and Italy.

Artist Statement: My "self" emerges in art!  Look at the shimmer of colors on the models eyes; look at how fabric wraps the body, look at the elegance of the horse, speed of the horse, freedom of the horse. "Freedom" is my ultimate desire!
